Our conception results from a closely held corporation, Freeman Jewelers, founded in 1976. Freeman Jewelers
was initially a fine jewelry store located at 6233 S. Western, however it closed in July of 1992. A second store,
presently located at 111 W. 87th Street, was added in August of 1984. In 1993, the owners decided to enhance
their customer services enabling them to increase volume and profit. Another company, Big Pawn (6233 S. Western Avenue)
was added, and loans on jewelry became available at the 87th Street store. Today, there exists a two other Big
Pawn locations at 120 E. 111th Street and 8130 S. Ashland Ave.
